Extracellular Vesicles as Biomarkers of Acute Graft-vs.-Host Disease After Haploidentical Stem Cell Transplantation and Post-Transplant Cyclophosphamide

Extracellular Vesicles as Biomarkers of Acute Graft-vs.-Host Disease After Haploidentical Stem Cell Transplantation and Post-Transplant Cyclophosphamide

Source : https://www.frontiersin.org/articles/10.3389/fimmu.2021.816231/full

Even with high-dose post-transplant cyclophosphamide (PT-Cy) which was initially introduced for graft-versus-host disease (GvHD) prevention in the setting of HLA-haploidentical transplantation, both acute and chronic GvHDs remain a major clinical...

Conclusion/Relevance: This analysis showed that the combination of CD146, sTNFR1, and miR100 or miR194 strongly correlated with the onset of aGvHD (AUROC >0.975). A large prospective multicenter study is currently in progress to validate our findings.

Novel insights in CAR-NK cells beyond CAR-T cell technology; promising advantages - PubMed

Source : https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/35149294/

CAR-T (chimeric antigen receptor T cell) technology, which has recently showed successful results in the treatment of hematological tumors, has been the focus of attention as one of the most...

Conclusion/Relevance: In this narrative review, we outlined the key features of CAR-NK cells as an alternative to CAR-T cell therapy in cancer immunotherapy and highlighted the main advantages.

Conclusion/Relevance: In the multivariate analysis, young age and Haplo-cord HSCT were favorable factors for HRQoL, while moderate to severe cGVHD was associated with lower HRQoL. These results suggest that for SAA patients, Haplo-cord HSCT could achieve at least comparable efficacy and HRQoL to MRD-HSCT.

Wharton's jelly-derived stromal cells and their cell therapy applications in allogeneic haematopoietic stem cell transplantation - PubMed

Source : https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/35088933/

For decades, mesenchymal stromal cells (MSCs) have been of great interest in the fields of regenerative medicine, tissue engineering and immunomodulation. Their tremendous potential makes it desirable to cryopreserve and...

Relevance: We first present an overview of their in-vitro properties and the results of preclinical murine models confirming the suitability of WJ-MSCs for cellular therapy in haematology. Next, we focus on clinical trials and discuss tolerance, efficacy and infusion protocols reported in haematology for GVHD and engraftment.
