Racial disparities in neutrophil counts among patients with metastatic breast cancer during treatment with CDK4/6 inhibitors - Breast Cancer Research and Treatment

Purpose The three CDK4/6 inhibitors (CDK4/6i) approved for use in HR-positive/HER2-negative metastatic breast cancer (MBC), palbociclib, ribociclib, and abemaciclib, are generally well tolerated; however, neutropenia is a common toxicity. Within...
Conclusion: We analyzed toxicity profiles of 182 patients with HR-positive/HER2-negative MBC treated with CDK4/6i. Despite the lower baseline ANC seen in our Black cohort, treatment toxicities were similar between racial groups. Long-term outcomes with CDK4/6i therapy, measured by PFS, were similar between Black vs. Non-Black patients.
Impact of Local Breast Cancer Recurrence on Reconstructed Breast in Nipple-Sparing Mastectomy with Immediate Reconstruction - PubMed
Source : https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/35487872/
The impact of locally recurrent breast cancer on reconstructed breasts remains largely unknown. Therefore, this study aimed to investigate the incidence of reconstruction loss due to local recurrence in patients...
Relevance: The incidence of reconstruction loss due to local breast cancer recurrence after nipple-sparing mastectomy with immediate reconstruction was low in this study. Age ≥ 50 years at recurrence diagnosis and the extent of local recurrence independently affected reconstruction loss. To detect recurrence early, careful follow-up through...

Sarah Mougalian, Yale Cancer Center4yrThis should be very reassuring for our patients--saves an extra surgery down the road. -
Albert Dekker4yrI have not seen any recurrences among my patients undergoing nipple sparing mastectomy
Tumor Immune Microenvironment and Response to Neoadjuvant Chemotherapy in Hormone Receptor/HER2+ Early Stage Breast Cancer - PubMed

Conclusion: TME characterization HER2 positive breast cancer patients revealed several stromal T-cell densities and immune cell aggregates associated with pCR. These results demonstrate the feasibility of these novel methods in TME evaluation and contribute to ongoing investigations of the TME in HER2 early breast cancer to identify robust...
