Trends in Survival Rates of Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer With Use of Molecular Testing and Targeted Therapy in Korea, 2010-2020 - PubMed

Trends in Survival Rates of Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer With Use of Molecular Testing and Targeted Therapy in Korea, 2010-2020 - PubMed

Source : https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/36929402/

The .gov means it's official. Federal government websites often end in .gov or .mil. Before sharing sensitive information, make sure you're on a federal government site. The site is secure....

Conclusions and relevance: In this cohort study of 10 years of clinical data, survival outcomes were improved across all stages, with larger increases in patients with stage III to IV disease. The incidence of never-smokers and the use of molecular testing increased.

FOXA2 and STAT5A regulate oncogenic activity of KIF5B-RET fusion

FOXA2 and STAT5A regulate oncogenic activity of KIF5B-RET fusion

Source : https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC9989603/

KIF5B-RET gene rearrangement occurs in ~1% of lung adenocarcinomas. Recently, targeted agents that inhibit RET phosphorylation have been evaluated in several clinical studies; however, little is known about the role...

Conclusions/Relevance: We found that TGF-β1 mRNA, where significant increments were observed in KIF5B-RET fusion cells, is regulated at the transcriptional level by FOXA2.

Unfolding of Imminent Bio-Signatures in the Prognosis of Thyroid Cancer; The Emergence of Estrogen Related Receptor Gamma (ERRγ) as a Hurricane

Source : https://journal.waocp.org/article_90489.html

Thyroid cancer's incidence has increased by leaps and bounds over the last years and accounts for 2.8% of new cases of cancers. This increasing bar is partially assisted by enormous...

Conclusions/Relevance: This review article highlights the ascending sheds of clinical biomarkers of thyroid cancer. This also reveals the clinical importance of ERRγ as an evolving diagnostic and therapeutic target in thyroid cancer.

Update on C-Cell Neuroendocrine Neoplasm: Prognostic and Predictive Histopathologic and Molecular Features of Medullary Thyroid Carcinoma - Endocrine Pathology

Update on C-Cell Neuroendocrine Neoplasm: Prognostic and Predictive Histopathologic and Molecular Features of Medullary Thyroid Carcinoma - Endocrine Pathology

Source : https://link.springer.com/article/10.1007/s12022-023-09753-5

Medullary thyroid carcinoma (MTC) is a C-cell-derived epithelial neuroendocrine neoplasm. With the exception of rare examples, most are well-differentiated epithelial neuroendocrine neoplasms (also known as neuroendocrine tumors in the taxonomy...

Relevance/Conclusions: The authors of this review make a call to support the nomenclature change of MTC to C-cell neuroendocrine neoplasm to align this entity with the IARC/WHO taxonomy since MTCs represent epithelial neuroendocrine neoplasms of endoderm-derived C-cells.

The protean role of Val804Met RET mutation in thyroid neoplasms: An example of a "MEN2C" syndrome?

The protean role of Val804Met RET mutation in thyroid neoplasms: An example of a "MEN2C" syndrome?

Source : https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/abs/pii/S0344033823000882?via=ihub

Val804Met RET is one of the most common genetic alterations in Multiple Endocrine Neoplasia 2 and is considered to confer only a moderate risk for familial medullary thyroid carcinoma (MTC)....

Conclusions: In the presence of Val804Met RET several types of thyroid premalignant and malignant should be screened for, and without limiting to MTC.
