Nonsurgical Interventions to Prevent Disease Progression in Prostate Cancer Patients on Active Surveillance

Nonsurgical Interventions to Prevent Disease Progression in Prostate Cancer Patients on Active Surveillance

Source : https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/38277189/

Patients with prostate cancer managed with active surveillance (AS) who are treated with 5-alpha reductase inhibitors have a lower risk of disease progression, with minimal adverse events. Other interventions require...

The use of 5-ARIs in PCa patients on AS is associated with longer PFS. However, for the other interventions, it is difficult to draw clear conclusions based on the weak available evidence.

Poly (ADP-ribose) Polymerase Inhibitors Have Comparable Efficacy with Platinum Chemotherapy in Patients with BRCA-positive Metastatic Castration-resistant Prostate Cancer

Poly (ADP-ribose) Polymerase Inhibitors Have Comparable Efficacy with Platinum Chemotherapy in Patients with BRCA-positive Metastatic Castration-resistant Prostate Cancer

Source : https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/37722977/

In this report, we found that different poly (ADP-ribose) polymerase inhibitors had similar efficacy, and platinum was a valid treatment option in BRCA-positive metastatic castration-resistant prostate cancer patients.

Our data revealed that different PARPis were similarly effective in terms of PFS and OS. Moreover, we found that PARPi and platinum therapy were comparable in terms of PSA50 response rate and OS, highlighting that platinum is a valid treatment option for BRCA-positive mCRPC patients. However, prospective interventional studies comparing these...

Targeting Glutamine Metabolism in Prostate Cancer

Targeting Glutamine Metabolism in Prostate Cancer

Source : https://www.imrpress.com/journal/FBE/15/1/10.31083/j.fbe1501002/htm

Glutamine is a conditionally essential amino acid important for cancer cell proliferation through intermediary metabolism leading to de novo synthesis of purine and pyrimidine nucleotides, hexosamine biosytnehsis, fatty acid synthesis...

Conclusions/Relevance: Here, it is important to understand that the tumor microenvironment also plays a role in facilitating glutamine signaling and resultant prostate cancer growth. The druggability of prostate cancer glutamine metabolism is more readily achievable with our greater understanding of tumor metabolism and the advent of...

Recruiting African American Prostate Cancer Survivors for a Population-Based Biobank Study - PubMed

Source : https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/36958853/

The .gov means it's official. Federal government websites often end in .gov or .mil. Before sharing sensitive information, make sure you're on a federal government site. The site is secure....

Conclusions: Recruiting African American PC survivors to biobanking research through a cancer registry is feasible. However, the consent rate was low, and existing challenges limit consent and participation. Impact: Strategies for overcoming barriers to informed consent and increasing participation in biospecimen research are needed to...

The androgen-thyroid hormone crosstalk in prostrate cancer and the clinical implications - PubMed

The androgen-thyroid hormone crosstalk in prostrate cancer and the clinical implications - PubMed

Source : https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/36930264/

There is increasing evidence that thyroid hormones (THs) work in an integrative fashion with androgen receptors (ARs) to regulate gonadal differentiation and reproductive function. Studies reveal that THs have interactions...

Conclusions/Relevance: This article aims to review the role of androgen-thyroid hormone crosstalk in PCa and its implication in the clinical management. As life expectancy is growing these days, it can increase the number of patients with PCa and the critical relevance of the disease. In order to gain better knowledge about PCa and to improve...
